Since 2 March 2026, Israel has carried out a devastating military campaign in Lebanon, killing at least 4,304 people, including 247 children and injuring 12,203. More than one million people \u2013 nearly one fifth of Lebanon\u2019s population \u2013 have been displaced, as a result of widespread and repeated evacuation orders and airstrikes in southern Lebanon and Beirut\u2019s southern suburbs. Israeli attacks have struck civilians and civilian infrastructure, including healthcare facilities, resulting in the deaths of at least 132 healthcare workers. On 16 April, the United States brokered a cessation of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel, which subsequently evolved into a ceasefire agreement on 3 June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Israel resumed military opera<ons across Lebanon less than 24 hours later and since, the death toll in Lebanon has nearly doubled. On 17 June, the United States and Iran signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), followed on 26 June by the announcement of the Trilateral Framework, which reaffirmed \u201cthe immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. \u201d Despite these agreements, Israeli military operations continued unabated: Between 18 and 19 June 2026, Israel launched more than 80 airstrikes across southern Lebanon, including in densely populated areas of Marjeyoun and Nabatieh, killing at least 47 people, according to Lebanese authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
